Honoring the history and legacy of Latino and Hispanic contributions to Notre Dame and beyond.

Since the mid-1800s, students, faculty, and staff of Latino and Hispanic descent have shaped Notre Dame’s educational and research landscape, with contributions that reach far beyond campus and into communities around the world. Somos ND (the Spanish translation of We Are ND) officially launched as a campus initiative in fall 2024, marked by defining moments during the 2024–25 academic year, including the Somos ND Gala recognizing excellence in scholarship, research, and leadership.

Somos ND reflects a renewed commitment to recognizing and honoring the legacy of Latinos and Hispanics at our University. It brings together a Notre Dame coalition to uncover shared history, celebrate achievement, and elevate contributions that extend far beyond the Notre Dame campus and into the broader world. By honoring the past and recognizing present-day excellence, Somos ND seeks to strengthen connection, understanding, and impact—now and for generations to come.
